Metal Trunks: Desi Style

Crate & Barrel is selling Metal Trunks! These brought on a wave of nostalgia for the rusted luggage trunks from back home.

I know its a little hard to imagine incorporating these into the decor of our homes. But they do make great storage options....

Or perhaps they could work as a center table when piled on top of the other? Else paint them as our desi blogland DIY queen did....

Nice Post and I so agree with your line "I know its a little hard to imagine incorporating these into the decor of our homes." I am getting reminded of the old Indian trunks. It's interesting how the same concept comes back into fashion every few decades with some minor tweeks !

Looks like the decor world is going back in times, metal trunks look great but may not actually fit in my decor :)

I have been eyeing the trunks in my grandparents house for a long time until one day i realized some relatives took possession of it already!
I have seen trunks being used as coffeetable, TV stand, big trunks ones for kids toys, place to keep the heavy wedding and family albums and at the foot of bedposts - PP ;)

The trunks look lovely in the picture but I agree with you i am not sure i want them in my home..may be the veranda..a table for the garden..yes that would be lovely.

@Prachi- Putting them in the garden is such a fantastic idea! Really!

@Tanvi- I can't handle ore nostalgia- Stopppp! :(

@Hilary- I would like to see a pic of that!

@PP- Putting it at the foot of a bed is also a great idea. Such a nice way to store quilt and linen.

@Rekha- Agreed! Not so sure it would fit in mine either. I am still on the wall. I would put it out in the garden like Prachi.

@Sundeep- I think they would be perfect for a guy's room than a girl's. Agreed! If it was for a daughter I would go ballistic painting it :)
