London, Paris and New York might have their Madame Tussauds, but we have our own 'Siddhagiri Gramjivan Wax Museum'! I was pleasantly surprised to discover its existence. It is located in Kaneri; near Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The museum showcases scenes of village life, and take a look at it yourself to see what a fantastic job they've done!
Definite drool over that basket of bangles
Village Panchayat
Bidai
Basket weavers
Don't you agree that its a fantastic job? Do visit the Museum's website for images and if in India- directions to get there.

Lovely post as always, Divya! Hope you're doing better now...
XO,

Amazing how much talent we have in India...and a pity that most of it goes unnoticed. You are doing a good job by highlighting what could have become "lost art".
Great blog, you've got, by the way :)
Get well soon and belated diwali wishes..i didnt know that we had a wax museum in India !!

Few weeks back when I was driving in Lonavala saw sign board of WAX museum. So guess Lonavala also has one :)
I agree, very lifelike, fantsatic! I had heard vaguely of the museum, nice to see pics of it. There are some pretty lifelike scenes in Akshardam in Delhi too! I was so impressed when I saw them.
Awesome Figurines!!!! We have similar looking ones in Shilparamam in Hyd . Not sure if they are made of clay or Wax . Will add more from there in my next visit :-) which is may be around the corner.
Thanks for all the wishes everybody! I'm still oscillating between feeling alright fora couple of hrs and then wanting to crawl back into bed. Will be back here soon with more posts :)
Admiration is mutual ...your blog is lovely. I like the theme of this museum and the idols are realistic. Get well soon.
